The table below summarises the plug types, voltage and frequency of electrical current in both Somalia and Suriname.
Somalia | Suriname | |
---|---|---|
Plug Types | C | C, F |
Voltage | 220V | 127V |
Frequency of electrical current | 50Hz | 60Hz |
Somalia uses Plug Type C.
In Suriname there's more than one socket type in use.
You will need this adaptor:
Socket Type
(Somalia) to Plug Type F
(Suriname)
Suriname also uses Socket Type C, which is used in Somalia. If using an appliance that has a Type C Plug in the Type C Sockets of Suriname, you will not need an adaptor.
The voltages found in Somalia and Suriname are significantly different.
Some appliances are compatible with multiple voltages. To find out if your appliance is one of them, check the appliance label and/or instruction booklet.

Is your appliance compatible with the voltage used in Suriname (127V)?
If your appliance is not compatible with multiple voltages, you will need a transformer to adjust the voltage input when using your appliance in Suriname.
The frequency of electrical current found in Somalia (50Hz) differs to that found in Suriname (60Hz).
Most equipment is not affected by differences in frequencies. Some exceptions are:
